For flawlessly packed full containers!

4 November 2026

Live at BrauBeviale: The new HEUFT logic II LF for the final inspection of crates and cartons loaded with full containers – featuring innovative detection technologies for specific challenges.

The HEUFT logic II LR for checking the quality and functionality of returned reusable crates was unveiled for the first time at drinktec 2025 in Munich. At BrauBeviale 2026 in Nuremberg, its counterpart for the end of the production line is now making its trade fair debut: the HEUFT logic II LF is not only the first choice for the final inspection of filled beverage crates and trays. Using thermal imaging and radar technology, newly developed detection modules check whether entire cartons are correctly sealed and fully loaded with beverage bottles or cans of all kinds.

The thermal imaging camera expands the possibilities for the final inspection of such secondary packaging: in addition to the sensory detection of protruding carton flaps, it checks shortly after sealing whether sufficient hot melt adhesive has actually been applied to bond them reliably and durably, ensuring that the contents remain protected during transport and storage.

Complete and brand pure

The new, integrable radar sensors offer an alternative for anyone wishing to check the completeness of the beverage bottles or cans inside a sealed carton without using X-ray technology. Instead, high-frequency radar waves penetrate the non-metallic packaging material and are reflected inside by, for example, metal caps or the liquid contents of the packaged container. If a reflection is missing at a specific point, this indicates that one is missing there.

Ultrasonic, infrared and inductive sensors are used to check that the contents of beverage crates are complete. To ensure brand purity, the HEUFT logic II LF can also use up to three in-house developed HEUFT reflexx A.I. cameras to verify the colouring, labels, design elements, logos, EAN and UPC codes on the crates themselves and – from above – the cap colours of the bottles contained within. Up to 32 product types and production programmes can be stored in the system for this purpose. Changing product types and programmes is straightforward and is guided by an audio-visual step-by-step wizard.

Even at high conveyor speeds, the HEUFT logic II LF ensures precise inspection of secondary packaging. Those identified as faulty are removed from the production line by special rejection systems, such as the HEUFT maxi-laner, before they can be palletised and transported away. This now also applies to cartons which, using new radar technology, are identified as not being fully loaded or, via thermal imaging, as not being correctly glued and sealed.
